15 August 2022

India will mark its 75th year of Independence on August 15, 2022, a momentous milestone in the country's long journey since its gained Independence from British rule in 1947. In these 75 years, India has transformed itself from a largely agrarian and poverty-stricken country to a global leader which is among the fastest growing economies in the world.
Today, India has become the hub for information technology services, has a thriving space programme, is the third largest military spender in the world and has substantially reduced its poverty. To mark India's incredible journey, the government has planned a grand initiative called "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". According to the government, the initiative is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing the country thus far in its evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable the vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). Under this initiative, the government and its various ministries have lined up a series of activities to boost the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
